Temple of Philae
(1 hours) One of the most picturesque places in Egypt is the Agilika Island with the Philae Temple, called the “Gem of Egypt”. The temple, dedicated to goddess Isis, was built in the Late Period and during the Greco-Roman time and was the last one to surrender to Christianity in 500 A.D. The temple was moved with the help of UNESCO in the 70s to save it from the rising waters of the Nile, as it is situated between the Aswan Dam and the High Dam. |
